Alexander McCall-Smith

Born in Zimbabwe, McCall Smith later moved to Scotland to study law at the University of Edinburgh, where he now lives after having taught law at the University of Botswana for some time. He is a well known expert on medical law. He was appointed a CBE in 2006 for his services to literature. He is now also widely known as an fiction writer and as the author of the The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.
